thrift store find

I found this lovely stitched piece in the thrift store recently
Another customer told me it's Guatemalan
And told me some history on how this sort of thing is done
As well as suggested we visit Guatemala in our lives if at all possible...take our boy with us, he would love it..
I love the colors of it
And the skill it takes to do something like this is miraculous to me.. who has a hard time making straight stitches with a machine.
The gentleman at the thrift store said it's likely from the 50s..if that's true, I can't imagine how it's kept it's vivid hues all those years.
Anyways..it's lovely, and I hope to find a frame and matting worthy of it.
