1 week at home
Rose is 11 weeks today
In one week, she has adapted to going to bed, rather neatly each night, in her carrier, with her fuzzy stuffed star, in Odes room.
She got charged by the rooster one day, and was afraid to go potty outside for a few hours, but the next morning, fresh from 6 hours of sleep, she took control of that situation, trotted out to go potty barked at the rooster, who flinched, and she made like she was gonna charge him, and he ran off, now she is the head honcho in the backyard (all of this is extremely supervised of course - in case anyone gets any bad ideas)
She comes to her name, scratches at the door if she needs to go, and if the designated door opener is not paying attention, she'll give a muffled, polite yip, to get your attention.
She sits when you say sit
She knows off, when you have a treat for her, and say off, she will sit and wait for you to give it up.
She gives her paw for a handshake when you say paw
Chris taught her
It takes her about a day to absorb a new command, and just when you've given up on having taught it..the next day it's been assimilated, and she does it without hesitation
She hates her leash with a mindless unexplainable passion, as soon as you put it on - she throws herself on the floor and tries to kill the leash
You have to ignore this drama until she gets bored with it, or distracted, then she does quite nice. I let her walk around with it dragging ( again supervised ) to get used to the idea
She is almost just like a toddler, bad behavior is dealt with by ignoring or distraction.
Her favorite past times are running laps through the house behind Ode while he squeals with joy at someone chasing him..they do this until one or the other caps out.. she also likes to wait until your not looking, then try to pull the sheepskin through the lounge chairs slats from behind..she knows she's not supposed to, as soon as you say Rose! She will give it one last exuberant tug then trot off like she's totally innocent.
She likes to eat, and when Chris starts putting her dish together, she will rush him with impatient yips..otherwise she's not much of a barker.
Oh and She sleeps, a lot
We took her to the vet, and she is in excellent health
Ode had to excuse himself from the exam room when she got her shots, he and I waited outside the exam room for that part
He cried
And a little girl standing nearby reassured him "aww don't worry, they won't hurt your puppy, they are helping her stay healthy!" He took a little comfort. And was very relieved to be reunited with Rose, who was wagging her tail and just fine. The vet came out and got down at his level and said "she's all done, and didn't whimper even." Ode was fine with this..and recovered quickly. Reminding me we need to get her chews, and can we go now?
