Listened to this today - Ted Talk on youtube
The thing that resonated with me right out of the gate was his comments about - how he, a conservative guy, a scientist from a midwest university, found himself out protesting
His answer was to show pictures of his grandchildren, he said,
How could he have his grandchildren grow up and find out that he knew these changes were coming.. and he did nothing to stop it or warn people.
That is also, what lit a fire under me..
How could I face my sons, and my grandchildren in the future, if the orcas and salmon are gone, and the water polluted, and say I did nothing to stop the willful ignorance and destruction of the environment we are leaving them?
I don't understand..
How can anyone encourage their children to go to college, and become scientists, engineers, etc.. but then proclaim we don't BELIEVE the scientists, engineers, & experts in their fields??
It doesn't make sense, and kids of all people see right through that BS.
It's become a political tool,
The air we breathe, the water we drink, the earth we stand on..
And it shouldn't be.
It's our own children's HEALTH and well being, and futures at stake here. Why on earth would you leave those decisions to a bunch of politicians?
People block their ears, because that message doesn't jive with their political party(?)
So what will you tell your children and grandchildren when they ask what happened to the planet, and why there aren't whales, butterflies, clean air or water anymore?
Well see, there was this political party.. nah..

We are one of the first generations to have a semi decent understanding of what's happening,
And people are just clinging to their unbelief,
and singing LALALA!! Louder and louder.. and blaming anyone they can find..parroting whatever their party says, slinging sh!zzle.
For the love of all that is good in this life,
We all have to
do something different
