A beautiful day

The whole weekend was beautiful!

Much time was spent in the dirt..weeding and preening the beds. Alas no pics..too busy! And my phone was dead half the weekend.

The honeysuckle and jasmine are both beginning to bloom..as well as the wild rose along the drive..
The air is super fragrant!

Ode played with a paintbrush and water.. "painting" the bench. He was mad he had to wear his bucket hat..and kept trying to leave it places...only to have mama plunk it back on his head..drat!

he got to run about barefoot yesterday and thought it was super cool.

He celebrated summer this morning by stuffing a dried cranberry up his nose..which was very "exciting" for mama and da..he didnt understand what all the fuss was about as we hovered over him with the nose sucker and looked anxiously at each other.

Geesh

He tried eating fresh mint to which he exclaimed mmmm!!, num num! Then his face fell and he spit it halfway across the yard..and glared at ma. Hahaha

He only said the s word twice this weekend..(we are practising "no reaction" so he doesn't think its so funny) seems to be working.

We put the bike rack and cargo basket on top of the volvo. I waxed 1/3 of the hood..only to discover that waxing old white paint is a very low gratification use of my time (aka you couldnt tell.) Chris thought it was funny.

I weeded two more rows of the vegetable garden and built little burms around the squash in the desert part of the garden..so they could hold water better. And survive.

The beefiest plant right now is a tomatillo whose about 4 feet tall and covered in blooms! We've never grown them before so wooohoo! Salsa verde here we come!

We're doing an experiment this year and kept two of the pepper plants in the greenhouse in well amended soil and big pots..the rest are outdoors..so we'll see which does better.

The corn is just shy of knee high..so it's fate remains positive.."knee high by the fourth of july" as the saying goes..but two more days of good sun im sure they'll get there.

I want to put a solar shower out in the back 40 so we can hose Ode off before he goes inside..w warm water.
We used to have one on the boat when i was a kid..and we thought it was super cool!

The chickens were laying low for most of the weekend ... was just a wee bit too warm.

The early pyros are out..blowing stuff up in the streets..screaming yeahhhhhh! Cant wait til the 4th..when everyone gets drunk and launches poorly aimed mortars out of their backyards.. whenever we hear the telling schwwooomp of a mortar shot out of a pipe..and then someone yell "oh sh!t" we know its a bad deal about to happen. Fun stuff. Better hose the roof down for the next few days.
