It's July! time for Apple maggot socks

We covered all the apples and pears in these nylon footies today, supposed to keep the bugs off. Namely apple maggots. We'll see if it works! This is our first year of fruit on the new apple and pear trees, had to thin down to one apple per node..feels like such the wrong thing to do! But we did it.
This pear tree came free off craigslist, it has 2 different kinds of pears on it..a grafting project perhaps..  we have another ridiculously overgrown pear tree with very ugly but delicious fruit. They're just kind of hard to get, 20 ' up there..
They're not getting footie socks..
