does that make sense?

One of my LEAST favorite phrases
has made a comeback in corporate america

• a person says something - then finishes it off with "does that make sense?"

as if the listener is daft
slow to learn
likely to misunderstand
unable to keep up with the speakers superior mental capacities

someone went to a management seminar last week and in that seminar.. they (leader) said that:
It's kind of an insult when someone asks you a question, and you quip back with "thats a great question!" like thy're a five year old and need encouragement
they go on to say that as managers we should remove this from our toolbox

I think "does that make sense?" should be right up there with it! Chuck it OUT! light a firecracker under it!

some people get into this habit so bad, they say it after simple stuff,
like
"turn the switch to ON..does that make sense?"
Are you freaking serious!!??
this phrase makes me see red
even when im just overhearing it
and im noticing it is most often used by people who have NO BUSINESS saying it to their audience (snort)

my new M.O.
when people ask me does that make sense?
is to repeatedly answer "no"
