woodchuck pond, or beaver lake, or something like that
i read something today
about how people often speak of their childhoods within the framework of hard lessons they learned or traumas
when childhoood
is such a time of wonder and glorious aliveness
this article suggests
reframing your childhood on these terms
i dont have to reframe too much as i had a good childhood
but i would like to honor this article and its reminder
with some happy thoughts along those lines
I remember
a camping trip i took my uncle greg and aunt kc and my cousins as well as second cousins
we went to woodchuck pond or beaver lake or something like that in the Idaho Panhandle
it was vacation inside vacation, we were already on our annual Lake trip at the lake house, and we went on a campout
i remember driving while on bumpy dirt roads
all crammmed together in cars to get there, elbows and knobby knees everywhere
i remember setting up "camp" sleeping bags on ground under the stars
i remember there was a mindblowing meteor shower
counting falling stars for a long long time
i remember singing together around the bonfire while uncle greg played the guitar
all the favorites.. greensleeves, circle games, country roads
i remember falling asleep in my sleeping bag to the sound of aunt kc's laughter (a beautiful light sound) the guitar still playing
surrounded by my beloved cousins
in the cool clear summer night air
